記事によりますと
白人警官が黒人男性のジョージ・フロイドさんの首を膝で8分間にわたって押さえつけ、死に至らしめた事件が5月25日にミネソタ州ミネアポリスで起きた。
事件翌日から、警察の暴行に憤ったミネアポリス市民が人種差別抗議デモを続けている。28日にはそのデモが大暴動に発展、市民は警察署に火をつけ、同署は火の海と化した。市民からは「まさに地獄」という声が上がった。

デモは、おおむね平和的に行われていたが、夜が更けてくるにつれ、暴力に走るものも出てきて、警察は、トウガラシ弾や、催涙ガス、ゴム弾を使って応戦した。
