A team from the World Health Organization (WHO) has arrived in China to prepare an investigation into the origins of the coronavirus pandemic.
The virus that causes COVID-19,which is believed to have started in animals before jumping to humans, first emerged in a since-shuttered wholesale market in the central Chinese city of Wuhan late last year.
The objective is to advance the understanding of animal hosts for COVID-19 and ascertain how the disease jumped between animals and humans.
US president Donald Trump have said the virus may have originated in a laboratory in Wuhan, although they have presented no evidence for this and China strongly denies it.

今回のWHOの中国訪問は、新型コロナウイルスの起源（origin）を調べるため。
新型コロナウイルスがコウモリ（bat）の体の中にいるウイルス（virus ）とよく似ていることはわかっていたが、それが直接人間へ移ったのか、それとも、中間的に伝搬した動物（intermediate species）がいるのかなどを調べる。
中国政府は、パンデミックへの対応における透明性（transparent）の欠如と、新型コロナウイルス感染症の発生をWHO当局にすぐに報告しなかったことで国際的に批判されている。

WHOは７月10日に、世界中のCOVID-19の総数がここ6週間で倍増したと報告。
感染拡大のペースが最近加速している。
世界では、新型コロナウイルス感染症の死者は552,000人以上、感染者1,220万人が確認されている。
WHOのテドロス事務局長は「感染の連鎖を断ち切り、ウイルスを抑制するためには、検査（testing）、追跡（tracing）、隔離（isolating ）、治療（treating ）に重点を置くことです。」と記者会見で述べた。
そう言えば
日本でも、東京を中心に再び感染が拡大しています。ここで心配なのが、東京都や国の予防対策が主体的ではなく国民や事業者の努力に任せられていることです。
第１波は、日本は比較的人数を抑えられたのですが、これで安心していると、次は感染爆発が起こるのでは？と、なんだかとても不安です。そんなことになりませんように。。。
