ILOの報告は、コロナウイルスのパンデミックは特に非正規の労働者に影響（impact ）をあたえていると強調している（highlight）。世界の非正規労働者は、平均して収入の60％を失っている。
非正規労働者の増加は社会を脆弱にする
「このウイルスは私たちの世界の脆弱性(fragility)をさらけ出した。」と国際労働組合連合(International Trade Union Confederation)のバロウ Burrow氏は言う。「世界の労働者の60％が非正規に働いており(work informally)-権利もなく、最低賃金(minimum wages)も保証してもらえず、社会的保護もなく、苦情(grievance)も言えないでいる 。-それは単に経済的な問題であるだけでなく、社会的な荒廃(devastation )を意味する。民主主義や自由を保証し、より平等な発展を再構築(rebuild )しなければならない。」とバウロ氏は言う。
コロナは世界大恐慌以来の経済危機をもたらした
国際通貨基金(International Monetary Fund)の代表であるKristalina Georgieva氏は、新型コロナウイルスのパンデミックは世界的大恐慌(the Great Depression) 以来の最悪の経済危機を引き起こしており、経済を回復させるためには大規模な対応(massive response)が必要であると警告した。
2020のメーデーは医療・スーパー・輸送関係者に感謝する日に
「メーデー」は通常、世界中の都市で「より強い権利」と「より良い労働条件」を要求するデモが行われる。しかし2020年のメーデーは、多くの国が封鎖され、抗議者が家にとどまることを余儀なくされるメーデーとなった。
